Dukes First Birthday

Duke had a wonderful first birthday and party. It was a dinosaur party with a pterodactyl cake made out of cup cakes. He was surrounded by people who love him very much. It was so nice of Ann and Joe Pettit to let us use their house for dukes birthday party. This was quite the party for our one year old little boy. His craziest present he got and probably will ever get was a hamster yes A HAMSTER. Duke has officially named it dog. Its actually a nice addition to the family. Thank you to all that came and for everyone who loves my little man. He means the world to Cameron and I and wouldn't trade him for anything.

Cabbage Soup Diet

Cam and I have been on quite the adventure this week. The cabbage soup diet is interesting if you wan to know more about it just google it. But man I do not recommend it. Maybe if there was no cabbage in this soup and everything else I would love it.
The good news is Cam and I are quickly losing weight but the question is will we keep it off and was it really worth it.
The diet is suppose to be a cleanse and I believe it has done its job I feel cleansed and I think I feel better because I haven't had fast food in almost a week and any junk food. So in a way this diet has helped me give things up that I have been trying to since I was pregnant. So a year after having Duke I may be down to my goal weight we shall see.
If you want to lose weight fast and have have a body cleanse then I recommend it but if you hate cabbage you would not survive.

Duke is Crawling!

Duke has started to Crawl!! What a big boy he is! I cant believe how older and big Duke is getting. It seems like Just yesterday he couldn't even hold his head up!
Also his two top teeth are coming through slowly but that seems like a milestone as well!
I love this little boy so much words can't even express how wonderful he is and what he means to me and Cameron.

Patience

Patience is such a simple little word that no one these days likes to hear. Waiting in a line at a grocery store or anywhere for that matter is horrible. Going on a diet thinking you can loose ten pounds in a week and you only end up losing one or two and usually give up the next week. INSTANT GRATIFICATION is what everyone in this world is waiting for, then when it doesn't come people go crazy.

How much nicer would this world be with a bit more patience.

President Dieter F. Uchtdorf of the first presidency said "Patience means staying with something until the end. It means delaying immediate gratification for future blessings. It means reining in anger and holding back the unkind word. Patience means accepting that which cannot be changed and facing it with courage, grace, and faith. Patience means to abide in faith, knowing that sometimes it is in the waiting rather than in the receiving that we grow the most."

I know patience has been a huge struggle for me. I have been praying for patience and hoping for more it everyday. It is slowly coming to me over time and it will be a life long struggle to learn how to be patient but it is all in the learning and progressing that matters.

I am writing this NOT as a lecture to all of the maybe two people that read my blog it is an outlet for me to vent and in hopes maybe this will make me feel better about what I am trying to accomplish.
I have been thinking about my life lately and how sometimes I feel like I am just put on the back burner while trying to raise a child, be busy with work, juggling life and support my wonderful husband through school. I think when am I going to get the chance to finish school and when do I get to focus on a career for me. Basically when is it my turn.

As I have been begging for patience, I have come to realize that it will be my turn one day and that day will be great but for now I can be happy being a mother to my wonderful son Duke and being a supportive wife to my hard working husband as he goes to medical school and tries to provide a better life for our family. This is what is important to me and my family right now and it took time to realize that the world shouldn't revolve around me. As President Uchtdorf said "Impatience, is a symptom of selfishness. It is a trait of the self-absorbed. It arises from the all-too-prevalent condition called “center of the universe” syndrome, which leads people to believe that the world revolves around them and that all others are just supporting cast in the grand theater of mortality in which only they have the starring role."

Halloween 2010

Halloween this year was wonderful! The whole month was s fun, having a kid makes the holiday season so much more exciting. Duke had a lot of firsts in October. He picked out his first pumpkin, he carved his first pumpkin with mom and dad while eating the insides, and he went trick or treating for the first time. Cameron, Duke and I were The Rubbles for Halloween. Duke made the cutest Bam Bam and even hit his hand like Bam Bam. It is so wonderful having a little man to share our lives with life can't get any better!

Ogden Family Reunion

All the new babies in our family (1 month-16 months)

Cameron and I went up to my family reunion with my moms side of the family. Its was so fun we went up to the Heber Valley Camp owned by the Church (usually a girls camp) and stayed for a night and did a bunch of obstacle courses. We went on a big swing and my grandma was so brave and took a turn. We also did a zip line Saturday morning and I was terrified but it was so much fun. I love my family and hope that we can do this every year.
